CAN you help with this classic car conundrum?
John and Carol McGlynn of Newton Drive Blackpool, are keen collectors of Rolls-Royce and Bentley memorabilia. The couple have been contacted by a fellow member of the Rolls-Royce club, who has just acquired this vintage Silver Ghost car and is anxious to fill in the details of its history since it came of the production line in Derby in 1924. Through some detective work of their own it has been discovered that this fine example of automotive history was owned in the early 1920s by Sir George Mellor, whose address at the time was the Grand Hotel, St Annes. The current owners of the hotel have no knowledge of this man, but they suspect that he could have been either a director of the hotel or a long-term guess with other connections in the region.
John and Carol are keen to find out more information about Sir George, his family and, of course, his motoring history in the Fylde.
If any Express readers can help to fill in the gaps you can contact John McGlynn on 01253300100.
